[ INTIATION ]

> the first ten filmmakers to be [GREENLIT] will have 100ft of film from PAL™. There are ten rolls total... FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED.

> to be [GREENLIT] filmmakers just need to EMAIL PAL™ [info@publicaccesslimited.com] with the subject line: “i would like to show you our future”. The body of their email should contain a [PHYSICAL ADDRESS and NAME] for their 100 feet of [DOUBLE-PERF BW NEGATIVE ISO-200] stock mailed to them from PAL™, free of charge.

> PAL™ will email back the first ten interested filmmakers notifying them that they are officially [GREENLIT] to begin their projects and the film will be sent in the mail via UPS with a pre-paid return label and further printed instructions...

[ THE EXCERCISE ]

> filmmakers are asked to create an original in-camera film on the roll and are free to interpret [ABOVE PROMPT] however they like...

> PAL™ also asks that the filmmakers record their own [ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK FILE] meant to accompany the film they created. NOTE: ALL SOUND MUST BE ORIGINAL and filmmakers must create it blindly, as they will not be able to see the film they captured...

> filmmakers can shoot at any frame rate they prefer but know that all films will be scanned + played back at 24fps
> soundtracks should not exceed the corresponding film runtime of 160 seconds max [100 ft of 16mm film played back at 24fps]
> soundtracks should be sent as .wav or .mp3 files via email to [info@publicaccesslimited.com]

[NOTE: participating filmmakers are expected to source their own 16MM camera to film their project on for this challenge.]

[ DEADLINE ]

> exposed roll of film must be mailed back to PAL™ using the provided pre-paid return label and audio track must be sent [emailed] no later than [FRIDAY OCTOBER 16TH 2026] to allow time for processing and prepping for broadcast...

[ PAL LAB PROCESS ]

> upon receipt of film PAL™ lab will hand-splice, hand-process, dry, capture and prep their film for broadcast.

> provided audio file will be synced to the [FIRST EXPOSED FRAME] on the reel. if no audio is provided the PAL™ team will add sound... there will be no silent films.

[NOTE: ALL VISUAL AND AUDIO RIGHTS MUST BE ORIGINAL AND HELD BY THE FILMMAKERS TO AVOID ANY LICENSING ISSUES.]

> participating filmmakers works will split between the two broadcast blocks that make up the totality of [FUTURE ARCHIVES 002] and will learn which block their film has been programmed into by [OCT 1ST] when the show programming is publicly announced.

[ FINE PRINT ]

> FIVE TENETS OF THE OUR FUTURE PROJECT.
> ATTN. FILMMAKERS: READ BEFORE SUBMITTING.

[001.] Caveat emptor: PAL™ will do its best to preserve the integrity of the filmmakers intent [as the goal of this excercise is to develop mutual trust as a unified community led media channel] however due to the experimental nature of hand-developed processing techniques participants should be advised that unpredictable results could occur in post-process. PAL™ cannot guarantee that the developed works will meet filmmaker expectations.

[002.] verba consilii: *NOTES ON THIS PARTICULAR STOCK / ISO: filmmakers are advised that this particular double-perforated B+W stock is BOX-RATED AT 400 ISO, but [RECENT TESTS] indicate that the sweet spot is to meter/expose this film between 200-320 ISO. PAL™ is recommending our filmmakers rate on the lower end, ie: ~200 ISO for their projects, as this will provide more latitude (ie: less risk of underexposed projects) given the nature of our diy lab.

[003.] Vocaběris operātor: PAL™ limits the creditation to TWO INDIVIDUAL NAMES PER PROJECT. Named individuals and are credited as “operators” [also abbreviated as “OP.”] Credited OPERATORS involved in the challenge may choose to use either their real name(s), fake names, ie: pseudonyms [OR] they may choose to remain anonymous. If a project wishes to credit a team of [3] individuals or more, they may choose a COLLECTIVE NICKNAME to rerpesent their team in leiu of listing personal names. [PLEASE NOTE: real Production Company names/titles may not be used as nicknames for a collective, as PAL™ firmly believes that the purity of this challenge only works when it is used as CREATIVE EXCERCISE among individual filmmaking artists rather than a tool for the marketing or promotion of a company.

[004.] opus absolutum ad infinitum: filmmakers retain ownership of their work while granting PAL™ ongoing non-exclusive exhibition rights across PAL™ broadcasts and archives. PAL™ pledges to act in good faith and will always provide credit given to the paricipating filmmakers when their work is used. all projects that have been exposed and mailed to PAL™ are considered complete once they are archived into the [PAL™ INDEX].

[005.] Simul dolemus: filmmakers agree to brave the pain, loss, and grief that MAY be associated in finding that their film did not turn out as they intended, and they pledge that they understand that this is NOT a competitive challenge. All projects, no matter how imperfect, are works of art and will be exhibited as such. The OFT challenge is designed to be intentionally unpredicatable, and just by participating in this, filmmakers are essentially releasing their natural creative instinct for control by surrendering to chance. While PAL™ believes that doing this may create a temporarily painful experience for the any given member, we also welcome a very different type of freedom that only can appear when accepting uncertain conditions. Please add somewhere in your email: “the medium is the message” so that we know you have read through all five core tenets.
